Our Daily Bread Nigeria Launches Deaf Sign Language Devotional

Hearing impairment is a special condition that exacts a heavy toll for individuals, families, communities, and countries. There are said to be more than one million deaf people living throughout Nigeria. They do not have full access to the word of GOD. Most of them are predominantly without religion and the progress of the gospel among them is reported to be very low – below 5%.

The deaf in Nigeria currently has no Bible translation, no Gospel recordings, and no devotional materials. There has been a few efforts for church planting among them within the past few years, but a lot still needs to be done to make the word of God accessible and understandable to them.

ODB Nigeria team with Bible Society of Nigeria Deaf Translators

In furtherance of the mission and vision of Our Daily Bread Ministries, we are currently working in partnership with the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) to produce the Our Daily Bread Nigerian Sign Language (ODB NSL) Devotional for the spiritual growth of the people within the deaf community in Nigeria.

This project is aimed at achieving the following:

  • To make available a daily devotional to the deaf community in order to enhance their personal knowledge of the word of God.
  • To develop a resource that will guide them as they study the word of God.
  • To encourage the daily study of the word of God among this group of people.

We are trusting the Lord that this project will have a life-changing impact on the deaf community in Nigeria and cause more souls to be won for the Lord.
